Norton United have presented a cheque for £300 to a local hospice following a successful fund raising initiative at the recent Staffordshire FA Senior Cup game against Stoke City.

The donation to the Douglas Macmillan Hospice was raised from the proceeds of a bucket collection and a donation from Stoke City FC.

The hospice, known locally as the “Dougie Mac”, is located in the Blurton area of Stoke on Trent, and was established in 1972 as a 28 bed hospice to offer comprehensive specialist care to adults in North Staffordshire.

Mr Terry Maskery, representing the Dougie Mac, received the cheques before Norton’s home game against Alsager Town on Tuesday from Norton’s Director of Football John Cotton and Club Secretary Dennis Vickers.

Dennis said: “As a club, Norton United is delighted to support The Dougie Mac and further donations will be made during the season”.

John and Dennis are pictured presenting the cheque to Terry.
