Atherton Collieries have come up with a novel way of raising money for the Royal British Legion by producing a new pin badge that incorporates a poppy with the club crest.

Colls Secretary Emil Anderson explained: "We always support the Royal British Legion by selling poppies in the clubhouse. This year we have decided to sell the poppy but with a subtle twist.

"We have produced a limited edition of 100 pin badges, where the Colls badge is attached to the poppy. We can't claim it is a unique idea but it's certainly an interesting fundraiser which the club are proud of.

"The cost of a badge is £3 with a £1 from each one sold going to the Royal British Legion. The badges go on sale this Saturday 20 October when Cheadle Town visit Alder House. It's a lovely badge and for a very worthwhile cause".

Anyone unable to attend the game can also order a badge by sending a cheque/postal order to 29 Lilford St, Atherton, Greater Manchester, M46 OPF for £4 inc p&p. Cheques should be made payable to Atherton Collieries FC.

An image of the badge is shown above.
