Football fanatics will have the opportunity to take in a double dose of NWCFL Challenge Cup action on Saturday 27th October.

The tie between AFC Liverpool and Wigan Robin Park will now be played at the Robin Park Arena, as Valerie Park is unavailable.

The game will kick off at 1 pm, the reason being that Wigan Athletic are at home to West Ham United next door at the DW Stadium with a 3 pm kick off.

Robins’ Secretary Taffy Roberts said: “Bringing the kick off forward will benefit both clubs twofold. Firstly it will help to avoid traffic congestion which will build up before 3 pm, and there is a greater possibility of us having an increased gate, with some spectators deciding to go to both matches”.

Once the action at Robin Park is over, supporters can then choose between two further cup ties in Ashton-in-Makerfield, both of which are little more than 10 minutes away by car.

The first option is at Brocstedes Park, home of Ashton Athletic, who host Bacup Borough or alternatively another couple of minutes further away is Ashton Town’s AM Property Group Stadium in Edge Green Street, where ground tenants St Helens Town take on AFC Blackpool.

And of course, with all three games being in the League Challenge Cup there is the possibility of extra time being played at any of the venues, so it could turn out to be a bumper afternoon of cup tie action in the Wigan Borough.
